About Us

SNAFU Farm began as a dream. A dream of an adventure-filled, fun and relaxing place to call home as you explore, form new friendships, indulge in farm fresh homestyle country cooking while enjoying all the opportunities for recreation that this beautiful area has to offer.

The dream has taken hold and developed into your launching point for just about any type of outdoor adventure you can think of - kayaking, canoeing, camping, fishing and horseback riding. With plenty of elbow room, privacy and lots of picturesque settings, it's a perfect, natural setting for groups, meetings and unique weddings as well.

SNAFU Farm is the place to stay while launching a variety of outdoor adventures. It's unique location offers direct access to the largest forest in Florida, the beautiful Apalachicola National Forest for horseback riding, group trail rides, backpacking and hiking on the Florida Trail; and within minutes, to numerous rivers like the Sopchoppy, Ochlockonee, and the St. Marks whose clear waters have a reddish tint from tree tannin, for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing. In many spots, the river bottom is sugar-white sand that builds to form sandbars on river bends. These sandbars make great swimming and picnicking spots. You have your choice of year-round activities to enjoy!

Take a day trip to visit Apalachicola, a quaint town with over 200 years of history to shop for antiques, and enjoy some of the finest fresh oysters and seafood in the county. Visit the St. George Seashore area for some deep sea fishing or beach-going; at either St. George Island State Park or St. Vincent National Wildlife Refuge. All within comfortable driving distance from your home base at SNAFU Farm.

Photographic opportunities abound from numerous historic sites located in the area like the San Luis Archeological Site, Natural Bridge, St. Marcos De Aplache, not to mention the many varieties of wildlife and birds that call this natural area home. Visit St. Marks Wildlife Refuge to view thousands of monarch butterflies as they prepare for their annual journey across the Gulf of Mexico to wintering grounds in the mountains of Mexico.

How about a visit to nearby Wakulla Springs, home of one of the largest and deepest freshwater springs in the world for a cool dip and see where three of Johnny Weismuller's Tarzan movies were filmed, as well as the original Creature of the Black Lagoon? Or, take a riverboat tour in a glass bottom boat.

The Apalachicola River valley is the only place on earth where tupelo honey is produced commercially. The town of Sopchoppy is also home of the world famous Worm Grunting Festival!

After a day of activity, come back to a home cooked dinner and a relaxing campfire to round out your day.

The Opportunities are endless!
